TUNE IN TO A VERY UNIQUE RADIO STATION - 101.1 FM PARK RADIO

The Friends of Banff National Park has created Banff Park Radio - 101.1 FM! A great way for locals and visitors to learn all about the wildlife and nature preservation in the park.

I really like listening to the many segments they have - whether historical or cultural pieces, weather reports or Mountain Minutes profiling the many different mountains in the area - you are guaranteed to learn something and have fun while doing it. If you plan on driving through Banff National Park - don't forget to tune in!

Enjoy the Friends of Banff National Park's great radio station which provides educational programming to all listeners. When you listen and learn about nature, you can't help but develop a sense of awareness. It is this generation that can ensure that the future of this park, and natural areas in general, will be preserved for future generations.

WHAT ELSE DOES FRIENDS OF BANFF NATIONAL PARK DO?

In addition to radio waves, the Friends of Banff National Park also has an educational program that has interpreters strolling Lake Minnewanka Roads informing visitors about the wildlife common to that area. Don't be surprised if you run into one of the them carrying some interesting props such as antlers, horns, tracks, and even scat (animal poop)! You can ask them about any wildlife sightings you may have had and about life in the many ecosystems in Banff National Park.

If you would like to support this non-profit charitable organization, you can visit:

  • The Bear and the Butterfly - a special store offering you unique Canadian gifts highlighting nature.
  • the retail outlet at Parks Canada Information Centre - located right in the heart of Banff on Banff Avenue, this little outlet has lots of useful materials to for your stay in Banff including natural and cultural history books as well as trail guides and maps.
