Banff The world-famous town of Banff, located in Banff National Park, can trace its beginnings back to the Canadian Pacific Railway and the discovery of the hot springs back in the 1880s by three young railworkers. This discovery of hot water bubbling out of Sulphur Mountain was to be the beginning of Canada's first National Park and...

Canmore The beautiful mountain town of Canmore is situated on the Bow River between Calgary and Banff on the eastern edge of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. The Three Sisters, Canmore's most recognizable peaks, tower over the little town located in the valley. This small community got its start in 1884 and due to the Canadian Pacific...

Lake Louise The most sought-after spot in the Rockies has got to be Lake Louise. Most can't believe the colour of this stunning lake until they have seen it for themselves. This is a stop you absolutely have to make. Even if you are making a beeline from Banff to Jasper because of time restrictions - I would strongly recommend...

Jasper Jasper has always been special to me. So special in fact, it is where I chose to "pop the question" to my bride!! Why Jasper? It is a little remote (not as accessible as Banff) and there is somehow a slower pace in this cozy getaway. If you are looking for a weekend escape or even a refreshing week away - come to Jasper...

PLACES TO VISIT Discovering Banff National Park Photos by Scott Rowed
So you want to vacation in the Canadian Rockies, but your not sure what places to visit. Well, this is where I come in. I would like to help you plan your trip through the Canadian Rockies. Whether you're backpacking, five-star hoteling or traveling with your motorhome or trailer, I'm sure we can help you. There are hundreds of possibilities you should know of, and then you will be able to choose which ones are best for you. You will have to make some tough decisions for yourself based on time, money etc., but hopefully with the information of our website, you'll get a much better idea of what is possible for you. Over the years I've met many travelers and the comments I heard the most often were, "I didn't know that was here." or "I didn't know I could do that." and even better, "I wish my travel agent would've known of this possibility.".

The first concern is that many travel agents or travel planners
have not been here themselves. How can someone recommend places to go, when s/he has not experienced the place firsthand. How far is it really? What kind of time-frame are you looking at? Friends of ours from Italy had a trip planned for them by a travel agent and had decided to run it past me before they left. With the distances involved, it wouldn't have even been possible in the time they had allotted for this trip! Scary!!
The second concern is the fact that most trips are cookie-cutter
packages. Agents are given pakages that suppliers want to sell. Is that what you want? Possibly yes, but why not know all your options before you even get here.
My question is, "What are you interested in?". You be the
designer of your own holiday and enjoy every moment. You are
spending hard-earned money and precious time here and I
want you to make the most of it.
One more thing - then I'll leave you to decide what places to visit. I have seen some people spend most of their time packing and unpacking, going from one hotel to the next, from one town to the next. On the go go go, only to find at the end of their vacation that they need a holiday to rest up for their everyday life. Don't make that mistake. As I have said before: knowledge, information and inspiration are your three keys to planning your dream holiday. Good Luck!
